Located on the western side of the Alanya peninsula, Cleopatra Beach is widely celebrated as one of the most stunning beaches on the Turkish Riviera. This Blue Flag beach is famous for its remarkably clear turquoise waters and soft, golden coarse sand, which legend claims was imported specifically for the Egyptian queen Cleopatra herself.
Stretching for approximately two kilometers, the beach offers a spectacular view of the historic Alanya Castle towering on the rocky peninsula. Visitors can enjoy excellent facilities, dynamic water sports, and a lively beach promenade lined with parks, cafes, and open-air sports fields.
Sunbathing and Water Sports
Cleopatra Beach is a paradise for active travelers. From jet-skiing and parasailing to peaceful paddleboarding, there are several water sports stations scattered along the coast. The clear water is also great for snorkeling near the cliffs.
The Legend of the Queen
According to local stories, Roman general Mark Antony gifted this coastal stretch to Cleopatra as a wedding present. It is said that special sands were shipped here from Egypt so the queen would only step on the finest ground.
Promenade and Sunset Views
Parallel to the beach is a beautifully landscaped promenade. In the late afternoon, it becomes the perfect place for a walk to watch the breathtaking Mediterranean sunset, with Alanya Castle lit up in the background.
