M.A.S. Tour from Alanya (Manavgat-Aspendos-Side)
The Alanya M.A.S. Tour is a comprehensive one-day tour package to the most iconic archaeological and natural sites of the region. The places are located around a short drive from Alanya, and the package includes two major ancient cities of the Hellenistic period and a world-famous waterfall on the Manavgat River. For the convenience of the guests, the tour starts with a comfortable pick-up service from their hotels.
The tour begins with a visit to the Manavgat Waterfall. This famous natural wonder is located on the Manavgat River and is one of the most photographed spots in Turkey. Although the falls are not very high, the white foaming water cascades powerfully over the rocks, creating a wide and picturesque view. Surrounded by shaded tea gardens and greenery, it offers a peaceful atmosphere for tourists to relax and take photos. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of nature before heading towards the deep historical sites of Pamphylia.
From the waterfall, the next major stop is Aspendos. It is located about 25 miles from Alanya and was situated on an important ancient trade route, which brought great wealth to the city. Aspendos was conquered by Alexander the Great’s troops in 333 BC and remained a thriving city under Roman rule for centuries. The 15,000-seating capacity theater in Aspendos is truly one of a kind and is recognized as one of the best-preserved ancient theaters in the entire world. Built by the architect Zenon during the reign of Marcus Aurelius, it is a world-class attraction known for its incredible acoustics and grand architecture.
The next destination is Side. This is a spectacular harbor city belonging to ancient Greek and Roman history. It was one of the most important trade centers in Pamphylia, especially famous for its maritime commerce and olive production. Due to its strategic location, Side became a target for many invaders over the centuries. After the Greeks, the Persians took over Side until they lost it to Alexander the Great. Side began to lose its glory around the 4th century due to constant invasions and natural disasters, and by the 10th century, it was totally abandoned. Today, the ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the ancient theater by the sea are breathtaking.
From Side, the journey continues back to Alanya, which is about 45 miles to the east of the Side ruins. On reaching back, tourists are dropped off to their hotels again, concluding a day full of history and natural beauty.
